About the event
This 45-minute interactive social media presentation is intended for 5th – 8th grade students. It is delivered by Gabrielle Fontana and a graduate student. The goal of the presentation is to build emotional resilience while using social media. The topics covered are:
- Discussion of emotions & resilience
- What is social media
- Positives and negatives of social media
- Explore Snapchat and how the app can become a chore
- What are other ways to measure friendship quality
- Explore Instagram and a "perfect post"
- Tips to reduce screen time
- Suggestions/strategies if you find yourself struggling.
At the end of the presentation, the presenters share their personal favorite coping skills and provide journals to students who want them.
